We move freight like people are counting on us. Because they are.
Whitewater Freight is more than a logistics provider. We are a family-owned freight brokerage built on trust, responsiveness, and the belief that doing the right thing still matters — even when the shipment is weird, urgent, oversized, under-explained, or somehow all four at once.
We believe freight is personal.
Every load represents more than pallets, dimensions, and appointment times. It represents promises made to customers, schedules built by teams, production timelines, projects waiting on parts, and people depending on things to arrive when they are supposed to.
That is why we do not treat transportation like a transaction tossed into the void. We treat it like a responsibility.
We started with relationships — and we still lead with them.
Since 1992, Whitewater Freight has grown through trust, consistency, and a long-game view of business. We are not chasing quick wins at the cost of long-term relationships. We want clients to know who they are working with, carriers to know we operate with respect, and our team to know their work matters.
We bring calm to a chaotic industry.
Logistics can get messy. Trucks break down. Weather happens. Appointment windows shift. Rates move. Freight fraud keeps finding new ways to be wildly annoying.
Our job is to bring process, communication, and ownership into that chaos so our clients do not have to carry all of it themselves.
Where it began
Founded by Harry and Shirley Wilhelm on the edge of the Whitewater River.
Whitewater Freight began in 1992 in West Harrison, Indiana, after Harry and Shirley Wilhelm had already spent decades in transportation. They built a company rooted in opportunity, stability, and real support for people in the industry.
Their goal was never just to move loads. It was to build something people could count on — a company where customers, carriers, and team members were treated like relationships, not transactions.
Shirley passed on January 2, 2023, but her influence still shapes who Whitewater is today. Her son William now owns and operates the company with his wife, daughter, and a team that has become family.
The heart of Whitewater
Our values are not wall art. They are how we work.
We call it HEART because that is what the best businesses still need: people who care, pay attention, take ownership, and remember that behind every shipment is a relationship.
Human
We are a company made of people helping people. Technology matters, but relationships still win.
Empowering
We help our team grow into ownership, confidence, leadership, and better problem-solving.
Attentive
Details matter. People matter. The little things are usually where the big problems start.
Relationships
Clients, carriers, teammates — we believe strong relationships create better outcomes.
Thankful
We do not take trust for granted. Gratitude keeps us grounded and service-focused.
The Whitewater difference
We are the partner you call when “good enough” is not good enough.
Freight is full of people promising the moon with a load board and a prayer. We prefer process, accountability, and enough honesty to admit when something needs real attention.
Carrier vetting
We take carrier selection seriously because the wrong decision can cost more than money. It can cost trust.
Proactive tracking
We do not believe clients should have to chase updates. Communication should move before frustration does.
Human support
You get real people who care about solving the problem, not passing the problem to another inbox.
Flexible solutions
Truckload, LTL, hot shots, partials, van, flatbed, intermodal, specialized freight — we help find the right fit.
Detail obsession
Accessorials, appointment times, equipment needs, access issues — the boring details are where we earn our keep.
Straight talk
We believe clients deserve clear answers, realistic expectations, and fewer “let me check on that forever” moments.
Our people
The technology helps. The people make it work.
Systems are useful. Tracking tools are useful. Data is useful. But when freight goes sideways, people still make the difference. Our team is built around ownership, kindness, urgency, and the ability to keep thinking clearly when the industry gets loud.
Our promise
We do not just move freight. We help protect your reputation.
When your shipment is in motion, your name is on the line. We take that seriously. Our job is to help your freight arrive safely, clearly, and professionally — without making you feel like you need a second full-time job just to track it.
Because “surprise” is a terrible logistics strategy unless it involves cake. Freight cake is not real. Sadly.
Carrier quality, insurance, authority, inspections, and red flags matter before the load moves.
Every shipment has its own personality. Some are chill. Some need supervision. We plan accordingly.
We want clients who trust us, carriers who respect us, and a team that is proud of the way we do business.
Ready for a freight partner with a pulse?
Let’s move freight with less chaos and more confidence.
Your freight. Our mission. Your success. Let’s make the next move the easy one.
